RUK / Renewable UK Wind Turbine

A RUK / Renewable UK Wind Turbine medical is an assessment of fitness to work on near offshore and land-based projects for the renewable energy sector and both Dr Hunter and Dr Ledger carry these out. This is a non-NHS service and the fee for this medical is £160.00. If you require additional tests, this may carry an additional fee.  Please discuss this when booking your appointment.

Following passing the assessment a certificate will be issued in accordance with Annex I of Issue 2 (2013) of Renewable UK Medical Fitness to Work and are valid for 2 years.

What to bring to your RUK medical appointment: 

  • A form of photo ID (passport, driving licence, or a discharge book)
  • Your current RUK certificate (if applicable)
  • The name, address and contact details of your GP
  • Any correspondence from your GP, if you’ve recently been to hospital
  • A list of any medications you are taking
  • Your glasses/contact lenses (if you wear them)
  • A fresh urine sample

A standard RUK Medical examination will include:

  • Questions on your medical history, drinking habits, etc.
  • Measuring your height and weight
  • A urine sample (to test kidney functionality and blood sugar)
  • Listening to your heart and lungs, testing blood pressure and heart rate
  • A standard eye test
  • A colour blindness test
  • YMCA step test (a measure of cardio-respiratory fitness like the Chester Step test)

The medical will last around 45 minutes.
